Part 1: Finalized Proposal

Objective:
To provide a multimedia-based medium containing all information on Penang Island’s local cuisines as one of the tourist must-eats.

Topic/idea Descriptions that will be Developed:
Penang Island is well-known as the hawker capital of Malaysia ranging from Malay, Indian, Chinese and others specialities. As aligned to the main topic of the final project for this course, Digital Media 1(MMB 2014), this team focuses on the local cuisines in Penang Island that provides a multimedia-based and attractive webpage to the international and domestic tourists.
This webpage concentrates information of Penang Island’s local cuisine based on these categories; Malay food, Chinese food, Indian food, and Penang Island’s famous snacks and dessert. Apart from that, this webpage is also an information medium of the history of these local cuisines.
A webpage should be as informative as possible and also attractive to the readers. This is one of the group’s main missions. Apart from being informative with precise information, this webpage is creative with usage of attractive colours and images and also user-friendly with organized links and tabs. Thus, this webpage will apply the use of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Dreamweaver and Adobe Flash to ensure the objectives of this project are achieved.

Demographics of the End-user/Target Audience Profile:
Based on the group’s agreement, the end user/target audience of this webpage is ranging from age 18 to 40 who are international and domestic tourists.

This is because this group of age are the idle age where they are keen to know and look for latest information from a webpage. Research has also proven that the highest percentages of internet usage are aged 18 to 42 years old.

Apart from that, the use of colours in this webpage will be based on the colour preferences based on age. Researchers claim that Elder observers’ colour preference was determined according to chroma attribute. Younger observers’ colour preference was connected to lightness attribute.

The use of header and high quality graphics are also crucial in designing a webpage. A research was conducted on how a website receives a good first impression from its visitors.

Initial Webpage Design:
Based on the demographics of the end-user/target audience profile, the theme colour of the webpage is white to illustrate a neat and clean effect. To ensure the webpage does not look plain and boring, colourful images will be added. Categories of food will be organized in tabs to ensure maximum organization. As for the tabs, a background music representing each category will be added when moused over. The webpage will also portray branding and logo of Malaysian Tourism to make it more official and trusted by readers.
